Larry G. Geib

Larry Gene Geib, 78, Mound City, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at his home. He was born June 14, 1947 to Vernon F. and Velva Iona (Moore) Geib. He attended and graduated from Craig R-III School in 1965 then attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and Administration.

Larry taught and served as administrator at schools in Iowa and Missouri, and also farmed. In 1994 he joined the Montgomery County R-II School District. There he served as principal of Bellflower and Jonesburg Elementary Schools and Director of Elementary Education for the district.

In 1995 Larry married Deborah (Bammer) French and they made their home outside Montgomery City. Larry was active with the community serving as a member of the Larry Richard Club, Good News Club, Jonesburg Area Optimist Club and the Montgomery County Gideons. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

Larry retired in 2009 but stayed active tinkering with antique tractors and their cattle. They enjoyed camping and especially fishing in the neighbors' ponds.

In 2017 they moved to Mound City to make their home and enjoy retirement. Larry was a member and president of the Mound City Housing Board and worked with staff to revive Evans Circle after the floods.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; grandson, Reed Geib; and nephew, Anthony Geib.

Survivors are his wife, Deborah; daughters, Carrie (Ken) Thom, Camille (Chris) Lucito, and Mary (Richard) Farrow; sons, Kyle (Marcia) Geib and Michael (Tiffany) French; grandchildren, Willis and Caden Wilson, Cole, Jake, Luke and Lane Lucito, Landon and Anne Geib, and Oliver French; brothers, Kenneth (Elberta) Geib and twin brother Gary (Ginny) Geib; sister, Beverly (Larry) Casey; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Family visitation: Sunday, November 2, 2025, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Services: Monday, November 3, 2025, 10:30 am, Mound City United Methodist Church. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, following services. Memorials: Community Hospital, Fairfax or to the Mound City Nutrition Site.
