Larry L. Sipes, 71, of Forest City, passed away December 14, 2016. Larry was born on July 10, 1945 in Forest City, Missouri. He was one of five children of Lynn A. and Marie (Green) Sipes. Larry attended schools in Holt County and entered the United States Army.
Larry married Phyllis Ann Chaney on June 8, 1968 in Oregon, Missouri. They became parents of two daughters. Larry worked as a mechanic, but also served as the Forest City night watchman for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenny Sipes; sister, Patricia Peterson; son-in-law, Ray Meyer; and grandchild, Levi Meyer.
Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis, of their home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori (Daren) Meyer, and Nancy Timothy of Littleton, Colo.; sister, Maria (Larry) Wright of Craig, Mo.; brother, Jim (Diane) Sipes of Amazonia, Mo.; grandchildren, Scott Meyer (Sara Hays), Jake and Wyatt Meyer, and Blake Timothy; great grandchildren, MacKensi Meyer, Bentley Hunziger and Lukas Hays; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was a member of the VFW and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed target shooting.
Services: Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, 2:00 pm, with family visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, all held at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Mo. Interment with military rites: Forest City Union Cemetery. Memorials: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oregon, Missouri; the Dianna Vernon Missionary trip c/o Church of the Nazarene, Craig, Mo.; or the Forest City Union Cemetery.
