Lavella "Valley" Grimm

Lavella M. “Valley” Grimm was born in Craig, Missouri on June 29, 1936, the daughter of Burrell and Mildred (Rauch) Bomar.

She graduated from Mound City High School in 1954, and later from Platte Business College.

She married Robert L. “Buzz” Grimm, and they became parents of four children. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Lavella passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at a St. Joseph healthcare facility at the age of 78.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred Bomar; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Sheila and Walter Erickson, Burrell “Butch” and Belinda Grimm, Dawn and Dennis Barton, and Shelley and Danny Hart, all of St. Joseph; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Jerry Connor of St. Joseph; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services: Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family visitation: Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorials: Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Bible Baptist Church of Cameron. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.
