Layla K. Mcclain

Layla Kiona McClain, 23, of Mound City, Mo., passed away on August 18, 2024 in St. Joseph, Mo.

Layla was born on September 14, 2000 in Fairfax, Mo. She was raised from infancy by Michael L. and Paula R. Martin of Mound City.

Layla had recently started working as a waitress at Quackers.

Preceding her in death was her father, David Dean Nowling.

Survivors include her mother, Brandy (McClain) Rauch; loving surrogate parents, Michael (Crystal) Martin and Paula Martin (Rick Terhune); two children, Kamari and Kianna; those she considered her sisters and brothers, Courtney Chapman, Emily Martin, Maddie Martin, James Burchett, David D. Nowling, Glen Nowling, Kenton Nowling, Brian Walker, Shannon D. Hutton, Trevor Tittsworth, Tristen McClain, and Gage McClain; grandparents; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Friday, August 23, 2024, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. The family requests casual dress: jeans, shorts, sandals, etc. Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials to benefit Layla’s children.
