Linda K. (McNulty) Elton was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 5, 1939 to Robert and Kathryn M. (Smith) McNulty. She graduated from Mound City High School in 1957, and later from Gard Business College in St. Joseph.
On April 12, 1959 she married Dellie Elton in Mound City, and they became parents of three sons. They operated Elton Tobacco and Groceries, Elton Construction, and Elton Sales and Service. Linda also worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer in her home, and later for Heck Implement in Mound City, and Horizon Implement in St. Joseph. She retired in 2008.
Linda passed away on April 5, 2013 at a Mound City care center at the age of 74.
Dellie passed away in 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Beth Elton of Oregon, Missouri; Mike and Lori Elton of Mound City, and Todd and Cheryl Elton of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Delia McNulty of Hiawatha, Kansas; three grandchildren, Carissa "Crissy" (Jason) Lawrence, Jeremy Elton, and Hannah Elton; and nieces and nephews.
Linda was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Omega Club. She volunteered at the Holt County Historical Society and the Mound City Nutrition Site.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:30 am, with family visitation Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, all held at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment was held at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Memorials may be directed to the Holt County Historical Society or the Mound City Nutrition Site.
