Lloyd Malloy Matthews, 76, passed away February 28, 2018 at his Forest City home.
He was born in Northboro, Iowa on July 16, 1941, the oldest of three sons of Calvin and Susie Marie (Whipple) Matthews.
Lloyd attended and graduated from Forest City High School in 1959. He also graduated from prison guard school in St. Joseph.
Lloyd worked at the meat packing plants in St. Joseph and farmed. He was a rural mail carrier until he retired. Lloyd was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association for 58 years. He also retired from the St. Joseph correctional facility.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Charles L. Matthews; maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Lula Marie (Burtnett) Whipple; and paternal grandparents, Malloy Munroe and Margaret (Johnson) Matthews.
Survivors include his brother, William (Rosa) Matthews; children, Lora (Jim) Pierson and Angela (Richard) Wilson, all of Oregon, Sherry Roecker of Savannah, Missouri, and Calvin Matthews of St. Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Zeb, Adam, and Ian Pierson of Oregon, Erin (Sean) Slocum of Mound City, Justin (April) Wilson, Bradley and Brandon Wilson of Oregon, Susan Roecker of St. Louis, and Stephanie Roecker of Savannah; and 18 great grandchildren, Bridgett, Patrick, Colin, Fionna, Liam, Zyera, Lucas, Kierrah, Mariah and Audry Slocum, Kaydn, Alyssa, Abigail, Brantley, Ryker and Kash Wilson, and Kamea and Rider Roecker.
