Lois Mae (Miller) Stone, 84, Mound City, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at a local care facility.

Lois, daughter of Kenneth and Viletha (Miles) Miller, was born May 20, 1928, in Mound City, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Mound City High School in 1945. On August 16, 1947, she married Sterling W. “Bill” Stone.

Lois was employed with the United States Postal Service for 27 years, retiring as Postmaster of Mound City in 1990. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, crafting, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her three children: Barbara Bohart (Francis) of Mound City, Sterling W. “Bill” Stone II (Cindy) of Savannah, and Belinda Kempf of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Gene Miller (Beverly) of Mound City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

Services were held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 am, at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, with Rev. Paul Grant officiating. Burial  followed at New Liberty Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Three Rivers Hospice, or the Mound City Nutrition Site.
