Lorena was born to Olin and Gracie Maupin on July 19, 1921 on the family farm in Watson, Missouri.
She was the only child.
Lorena attended Star rural school and graduated from Hamburg High School in 1939.
Before getting married, she was employed as a ‘beautician’ (hair stylist) and worked for Sjulin Nurseries in Hamburg.
On December 12, 1948 Lorena was united in marriage to Harold (Bob) Cloepfil, which lasted 50 years, at the Hamburg Baptist Church. To this union, two children were born: John (wife, Alejandra) and James (wife, Jan), who all reside in Shenandoah today.
The family lived and farmed east of Hamburg, Iowa until retirement. They owned a home in the Lake of the Ozarks and after selling the farm, moved to Shenandoah.
Lorena loved being a housewife on the farm. She not only took care of her own parents but Bob’s parents as well, who lived next door, and helped take care of them in their senior years. Lorena was ‘Worthy Matron' in the Eastern Star and was involved for many years.
Boating in the Lake of the Ozarks was one of her favorite pastimes, even though she couldn’t swim. Lorena had always enjoyed life with lots of laughter, which she believed was the secret to long life. She never knew a stranger, always had a compliment for everyone she met, and loved little children.
Lorena passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at a Shenandoah care center at the age of 91.
Other survivors include three grandsons, Evan (wife, Michelle) and Dylan Cloepfil of Liberty, Missouri, Dan Shough (wife Tara) of Pompano Beach, Florida; and two great grandchildren, Regan and Aiden Shough.
