M. Darlene Polsgrove was born July 31, 1923 in Fillmore, Missouri to Albert S. and N. Marie (Hatcher) Shaffer. She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1942.
On May 16, 1946 she married Raymond Dwight Polsgrove, and they had two daughters.
Darlene volunteered at the Oregon Care Center for many years. She belonged to the Oregon United Methodist Church, the Homemaker’s Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. Darlene was well-known for her homemade noodles and jelly.
Darlene passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at an Oregon healthcare facility at the age of 96.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Raymond, in 1981; brother, Francis Roy Shaffer; and sisters, Alberta Ramsey, Lola Atkins, Imo Nadine Lee, and Phyllis Fasching.
Survivors include her daughters, Chyre (Mark) Buntz of Oregon, and Darla Beesley of St. Joseph, Missouri; sister, Beverly Hopkins of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, William Scott (Jennifer) Page of Cameron, Missouri, Stephanie Page (Evan) Milne of Overland Park, Kansas, Bryce (Jennifer) Buntz, also of Overland Park, and Luke (Ellen) Buntz of Ponte Vedra, Florida; nine great grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Brock, and Jacob Murphy, Tristan and Lillian Milne, Cale and Mikah Buntz, and Zoey Turpin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation: Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Services: Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am, also at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon, where family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be held at Fillmore Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the South Holt Athletic Department.
