Margaret Lee (Asher) Blazer passed away February 21, 2025 at Golden Options Care, assisted living facility in Montana City, Montana.

Margaret was born July 3, 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri to Byrd Irene (Peret) Asher and Lee Asher. She grew up and spent her childhood in and around Oregon Missouri.  She attended Oregon High School, graduating in 1936. On graduation, she went to Chillicothe Business College.

She soon got a job after graduation from business school and was enjoying single life. Margaret did not plan on ever getting married, and that didn’t change at first when she met Hiram (Hap) Lawrence Blazer. Cars were a scarce commodity back then and in order to go out, Hap and a friend shared rides. Her girlfriend was dating Hap’s friend and Margaret started dating Hap to help her friend out.

Eventually, Hap won out and they married January 19, 1943. He was in the army at the time and the newlyweds moved about the country as his assignments changed. In 1944 she became pregnant and stayed in Oregon with her mother  Their son, Leland Keith, was born that November.

The little family moved to Wichita, Kansas, which is where Margaret spent most of the rest of her life. She spent time raising her son, had a few jobs, and supported Hap in his career. Hap died in 1976 and she continued living in Wichita, working for a few years and spending time traveling.

The days continued going by and Margaret kept on going with them—up to over 105 years old. She outlived most of her family and friends. In 2023 she decided on one more adventure—moving to Montana to be closer to her son and his wife.

She is survived by her son, Leland Blazer and his wife, Christina (Ler) Blazer; grandson Corwyn Blazer and his wife, Amanda Smith; and great granddaughter, Delilah May Blazer. She was preceded in death by husband, Hap Blazer; brother, George Leland Asher; mother Byrd Asher, and father, Lee Asher.
