Margaret R. “Marguerite” Beggs

Margaret R. “Marguerite” Beggs was born on February 28, 1914 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of James Woodford and Cora Isabel (Ulmer) Seals.

Marguerite married Howard Chambers Beggs, and they became parents of one son. Marguerite and Howard operated a bar in Craig, Missouri, and also the “Log Cabin” bar in St. Joseph, Missouri. Marguerite also worked at the Big Lake hotel for several years.

Marguerite passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at a Mound City care center at the age of 98.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Orville J. Beggs; brother, Raymond Seals; and sisters, Eva White, Treva “Babe” Funderburk, and Bertha “Bert” Seals.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mildred Beggs of Bastrop, Texas; four grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and nephew and his wife Harold W. and Pat Beggs of St. Joseph.

Services were held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Interment was held at Maitland Cemetery.
