Marguerite "Margie" A. Schenk

Marguerite Angela "Margie" Schenk was born on
May 23, 1927 in Ludlow, Missouri. She was the
only child of C. LaVere and Letha (Merchant) North.

Margie moved to Forest City with her parents 
when she was five years old. She graduated from 
Forest City High School in 1945. 

On February 20, 1952 she married Melvin D. 
Schenk in their newly constructed home at 406 
Grand Ave. No natural children were born to
 them, but they treated all neighborhood children as their own.

Margie worked at the Nichols Cancer Hospital in Savannah, Missouri. 
She later joined her parents in working at the First State Bank in Forest City. 
She retired from the bank in 1981 after almost 30 years of service. She 
was a member of the Forest City United Methodist Church.

 Margie passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Oregon
 Care Center at the age of 85.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and nephew, Riley D. Schenk.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Melvin, of Oregon; special 
family, Monty and Lisa Scroggins, Camarah Scroggins, Breannah 
(Scroggins) Milne and her husband Eric; and Paizlee Milne and Acen
 McGinnis, all of Oregon; sister-in-law, Marilouise Schenk of Cameron,
 Missouri; niece, Debbie Straubel of Trumbull, Connecticut; great niece, 
Monica Schenk of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of friends.

 Margie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, traveling, and her recipes,
 but most of all she loved hearing about and visiting with ‘her kids,’ Bre,
 Cami, Acen and Paizlee.

 Services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at the 
Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon.  Interment was held at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
 Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Care Center Serenity Garden.
