Martha M. O'Connell was born in Stanberry, Mo. on Dec. 19, 1931 to Charles and Hattie May (Shane) Riley.
On June 17, 1951 she married A.C. "Red" O'Connell. They became parents of three sons and one daughter.
Martha passed away on August 18, 2016 at a St. Joseph, Mo. hospital at the age of 84.
Preceding her in death was her parents; her husband; brothers, Charles "Sonny" Riley and Johnny Riley; and sisters, Trissa Downey and Charlotte Hutton.
Survivors include her sons, Rich O'Connell of Seattle, Wash., Randy (Roberta) O'Connell of Conception Junction, Mo., and Rodney (Dena) O'Connell of Tarkio, Mo.; daughter, Robin (Danny) Atkins of Trimble, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Martha worked at Bank CBO as a clerk and teller. She had also worked at Shorty's Restaurant and Coffman Grain, and kept books at O'Connell Farm Supply. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, crocheting, ceramics and watercolor painting. Martha also loved to fish. She was a member of the Holiday Club.
Services: Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, 2:30 pm, Oregon United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 pm, at the church. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Oregon United Methodist Church or Maple Grove Cemetery.
