She married Dwain “Benny” Benedict on September 2, 1950. They became parents of seven children. Benny passed away on March 18, 1990.
Colleen passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at a St. Joseph hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and brothers, Francis “Frank,”Gene, Albert, Allen, and Kenneth Plummer.
Colleen is survived by her children, Wilbur of Brookton, Western Australia, Darrell (Robin) of Oregon, Missouri, Kathy Benedict of St. Joseph, Missouri, Justin (Maureen) of Mason City, Iowa, Patricia Wilson of Attalla, Alabama, Matthew of St. Joseph, Missouri and Jeffrey (Charlene) of Iola, Kansas; sister, Pauline Kurtz of Forest City; sisters-in-law, Maxine Plummer of St. Joseph, and Mary Plummer of Forest City; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Colleen worked as a healthcare provider for several years. She enjoyed sewing, hummingbirds and collecting bells.
Services: Friday, May 12, 2017, 2:30 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Missouri, where family will greet friends beginning at 1:30 pm. Interment: Benton Cemetery, near Mound City, Missouri. Memorials: Benton Cemetery.
