Mary K. Esser

Mary Kathryn Esser was born on May 11, 1922 in Watson, Missouri. She was the daughter of William and Anna Mary Kathryn (Maness) Holmes.

Mary attended school in Watson. On June 1, 1943 she married Roy Esser in Maryville, Missouri, and they became parents of four children. Roy farmed in the Watson area, and Mary was a busy farm wife.

Mary passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Pleasant View care center in Rock Port at the age of 90.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Roy; brothers, Leland, Leo, and Ray Holmes; half brother, Lee Maness; sisters, Eva Schroeder and Mary Lee Allgood; and half sister, Birdie Barnhart.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Gary Hughes of Rock Port; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Wayne Esser of Rock Port, Leland and Judy Esser of Vermillion, South Dakota, and Richard and Kathy Esser of Watson; sister-in-law, Leola Holmes of Rock Port; six grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Mark Lytle, Amy Matzen, Tabatha and Adam Meyer, Morie and Mike Vanderslice, Shae and Justin Neumeister, and Chance Esser; and 10 great grandchildren, Nicole, Paige and Preston Lytle, Ashley, Ryan and Jake Matzen, Tyler Armknecht, Colby and Austin Vanderslice, and Cory Neumeister.

Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, and bird watching.

Services were held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Watson Baptist Church.  Burial was held at High Creek Cemetery, and memorials may be directed to the cemetery.
