Mary Ellen Hall went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2013. She was born in Oregon, Missouri on July 9, 1922 to Frank and Ruth (Meyer) Spilman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Gene Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel Mae and Bob Brickey; and brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Phyllis Spilman.

Mary Ellen is survived by her four children, Robert Hall and wife Theda of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Howard Hall and wife Lynn of Conifer, Colorado, John Hall and wife Tina of Sterling, Alaska, and Ruth Musick and husband John of Pleasant Hope, Missouri ; five grandchildren, Matt and his wife Wendy Musick, Brad and his wife Brenda Musick, Jody and her husband Joe Perkowitz, Gene Hall and Jennie Hall; four great grandchildren, Mason, Mylie, and Mia Musick, and Faith Smith; brother, Leroy Spilman, Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Patsy Spilman of Texas, and a sister-in-law, Francis Spilman of Springdale, Arkansas.

Mary Ellen resided most of her life with her husband Gene in the farming community of Oregon at the Meyerdale Centennial Farm. In 2009 she moved to Bolivar, Missouri to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church for most of her life.

She wanted to help others, so at the age of 50 she pursued an LPN degree. She worked at Tiffany Care Center, formerly known as Brown’s Nursing Home. She then became the Director of Nursing at the Oregon Care Center, retiring in 1987. Mary Ellen continued to volunteer as an ombudsman there for many years, bringing her special spirit and comfort to those in need.

She loved her family and gathered friends like flowers, appreciating daily the wonderful life that God had given her.

Services were held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Oregon United Methodist Church. Family greeted friends following the services. A private family interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Care Center Serenity Garden.
