Mary E. Nauman

Mary Elizabeth Nauman was born on January 25, 1919 in Mound City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Wilmer George "Bill" and Elizabeth Deborah "Bessie" (Meyer) Buntz. Mary graduated from Mound City High School, and lived most of her life in Mound City.

On February 14, 1944 she was married to J. Gordon Nauman in Atchison, Kansas. She and Gordon lived on the family farm until they moved to town in 1971.

Mary was employed at the Exchange Bank for more than 20 years before retiring. In 1992 she and her husband Gordon moved to Branson, Missouri, working at her daughter Jean’s hotel and attending many of her favorite music shows.

Gordon passed away on January 11, 2000. Mary moved to Denver, Colorado in 2004. She passed away on March 30, 2013 at the Orchard Park Health Care Center in Denver.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; brother, Meyer Buntz; sisters-in-law, Lillian Parr, Peg Buntz, Jean Buntz, and Verna Nauman; and brother-in-law, Melvin Nauman.

Mary is survived by her daughter Jean and two grandsons, Shawn Rowlett and Brent Flanary, all of Denver; one brother, Bill Buntz of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary loved to cook and had many family favorites. She loved her flower garden, which was always a showpiece each year at her home.


Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Hope Cemetery.
