Mary E. "Pat" Bruntmyer

M ary Elizabeth “Pat” Bruntmyer was born on August 28, 1926 in Maryville, Missouri. She was one of eight children born to George and Fern (Forney) Brown.

Pat graduated from Mound City High School in 1945, and then attended nursing school. On May 28, 1947 she married Bobbie Dean Bruntmyer in Hiawatha, Kansas. They became parents of two sons. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Pat had worked in housekeeping at Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri and at Tiffany Heights Care Center in Mound City.

Pat passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the age of 87. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold Brown, Beth Brown, Charlie and Mary Brown, Richard and Elfriede Brown, and William “Bill” and Barbara Brown; and grandson, Philip Bruntmyer.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Karen Bruntmyer of Mound City, and Rick and Mary Bruntmeyer of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, Glen Brown of Mound City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgeana and David Lawrence of Kechi, Kansas, and Janice and Ronnie McGee of Amarillo, Texas; sisters-in-law, Doris Brown of Eaton, Colorado and Norma McCurry of Mound City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Jared Atkins of Mound City, Regina and Gene Cassell of Topeka, Kansas, Jenny Bruntmeyer of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bobbie Jo Bruntmeyer and fiancé Dave Jenkins of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rikki Bruntmeyer and fiancé Lane Briggs of St. Joseph, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Jake and Jared Cassell of Topeka, Kansas, Lyric Olyvia Bruntmeyer Whiting of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Abigail and Isabel Atkins of Mound City; and nieces and nephews.

Services: Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 10:30 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Care Center Serenity Garden, or the Mound City Nutrition Site.
