Mary Frances Plummer died on Friday afternoon, September 27, 2019 at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Missouri surrounded by her family and the compassionate Oregon Care Center staff. Mary had resided there since May 2018.
Mary was born on May 18, 1934 to Carl and Mady BOMAR Hayzlett in Craig, Missouri. She was a lifelong resident of Holt County. She married Kenneth D. Plummer on December 28, 1952. Kenneth passed away in June 1992.
Mary and Kenneth owned and operated Plummer’s Café (1962/1979) and The Green Kitchen (1971/1975) in Forest City. Mary loved to cook. She was well known and remembered for her cinnamon rolls and pies. She was employed at Brown’s Memorial Nursing Home (1979/1981) and The Forest City Diner (1981/1986) as a cook. Mary became a full time caregiver for her parents and brother, Curtis (1986/2014). Mary loved her yard, beautiful flowers, and working outside. Mary and her son, Kenny, owned and worked together at their Green Thumbs Greenhouse and sold concrete ornaments for many years.
Mary is survived by her five children and their spouses Kenneth L. and Alice Plummer, Carla Adams, Charles “Bill” and Karrilu Plummer, Ladeanna and Thomas Hays, and Allison and Loyd Russell. Mary enjoyed her fifteen grandchildren: Corey Howell (Steve), Mary L. Plummer, (Jimmy), Timothy Adams (Gina), Kim Zimmerman (Nathan), Brian Plummer (Kellie), Richard Adams (Emily), Zechariah Hays (Natascha), Ashley Johnson (Adam), Jebadiah Hays (Amber), Kassie Wolfinger (Thomas), Dustin Bernard (Catelyn), Nikki Dickerson, Mikki Russell, Ricky Russell, and Cassie Miller. Mary has twenty-seven great-grandchildren: Chase (Emily), Joshua & Zander Howell, Casey Meyer (AnnaBella), Jordan & Andy Plummer, JLee Clark, Maria, Megan & Eddie Adams, Abigail Zimmerman, Benjamin & Luke Adams, Aubrey & Trysten Hays, Jaeden Hays, Braeley Davis, Addison & William Wolfinger, Bryson, Collin & Isaiah Dickerson, Ava Barnett, Jasmine Carter, and Franklin & Italee Miller. The twenty-eighth great-grandchild, Tristan John Ray Bernard, will be arriving in November 2019. Mary is also survived by a sister, Mavis Mackey, and a brother-in-law Harvey Noble and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law Edwin Adams, great-granddaughter Daphani Miller, five brothers Irvin, Claude, Melvin, Carroll & Curtis; one sister Alice Noble.
Family visitation: Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Services: Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Forest City Christian Church.
