Savannah

Mary Eleanor (Harris) Terhune was born on July 20, 1939. Mary attended rural Kimsey School and graduated from Forest City High School in 1957. She then attended Northwest Missouri State College where she graduated in 1961 with her teaching degree in Home Economics. She taught for one year in Hardin, Missouri.

On June 3, 1962 she married Gerald Terhune and they were blessed with two sons, Mark and Scott.

Mary had a talent for decorating her home for the holidays and seasons. Crafts, cooking, and gardening were some of her many talents. Mary could out-work most anyone.

Mary was a Boy Scout den mother. She worked in the crafts and fabric department of the North Belt Walmart in St. Joseph for 22 years. She also worked in their businesses the Rock Shop and Coin and Jewelry Exchange. She traveled thousands of miles with Gerald back and forth across the U.S. doing jewelry shows. Mary loved people and people loved her!

She loved God and her churches. She attended Union in rural Oregon, Missouri, and then attended the former Cumberland Ridge Church and the First Christian Church of Savannah, Missouri.

Mary left this world to go to her heavenly home on June 22, 2022, where she was met by her son, Scott; daughter-in-law Ranae (Abersold) Terhune; father and mother, Richard and Essie (Burrier) Harris; and her infant brother.

Mary will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Gerald; her son, Mark; grandson Brandon (Danielle); granddaughter, Kylee (M.J.) Madill; great grandchildren, Mason, Soren, and Jordan, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Lynne (Blatner) Terhune of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Rosie (Alvin) Meyer of Bolivar, Missouri, Leah (Kent) Kurtz of Forest City, and Diane (Terry) Silvey of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, French (Kelly) Harris of Forest City; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss Mary dearly.
