Mary Jean Whitnah

November 2, 1933 — April 29, 2014

Mary Jean Whitnah was born in Holt County on November 2, 1933 to Arthur McKinley “Mack” and Mary Elizabeth (Noble) Gillenwater. Jean graduated from Oregon High School.

She married Harry E. “Bud” Whitnah in 1951, and they became parents of six children.

Jean passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her Oregon home at the age of 80.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dean; brothers, Henry, Harold, and Billy Gillenwater; sister, Lucille Gillenwater; grandson, Daniel Turner; and son-in-law, Richard Verbick.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bud, of their Oregon home; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and David Wineinger of Glenwood, Iowa, Wanda Verbick of Forest City, Missouri, Debbie and Bruce Turner of Oregon, Missouri, and Patsy and Eddie Woolsey of Forest City, Missouri; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Tammy Whitnah of Oregon, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Patricia Gillenwater of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Family visitation was held Thursday night from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Interment was at Forbes Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Forbes Cemetery.
