Max L. “Newt” Prussman, 78, of Oregon, passed away at his Oregon home on Jan. 31, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 10, 1935 in Forest City, Mo., and graduated from Forest City High School. On Sept. 1, 1962 he married Wynona “Nonie’ McGuire in Miami, Okla.
Max was a lifetime resident of the area, and farmed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, and served overseas. He was in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T. Larmar. and Elsie J. (Dobbins) Prussman; sisters, Darlene Wales and Twyla “Sis” Carr; brother, Jack Prussman; and niece, Barbara Lynn Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Nonie, of their Oregon home; children and their spouses, Lynn and Terry Anderson, Neal and Jodee Prussman, Jean Prussman, Jane Prussman,
Beth and Jason Phelan, and Dale and Krissy Prussman; grandchildren, Skyler (Jessica), Shane (Jessica), Scott (Nichole), Sadee, Chloee, Mylee,
Brody, Jaden, Gannon, Tylynn, and Tayte; great grandchildren, Courtney and Elijah; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Max was a member of the Forest City Christian Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse races, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services: Tuesday, 10:30 am, First Christian Church of Oregon. Interment with full military rites: Maple Grove Cemetery. Family visitation: Monday evening, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Memorials: Harris E. Petree American Legion, or Oregon swimming pool.
