Maxine Narans Frieze of Columbus, Nebraska died Sat., Jan. 28, 2017 at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Maxine was born Feb. 24, 1926 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Clifton and Mary Ethel (Moore) Russell. She lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Columbus.
Maxine worked in the Iowa School Dietary Departments and at Dale Electronics.
She married Leonard Narans in 1943 in St. Joseph. Leonard passed away in 1963 and she married Eugene Frieze in 1973.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers and sisters; mother-in-law, Anna Narans; grandson, James Edward Garbers; and second husband, Eugene Frieze, in 2003.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat (Fred) Garbers of Columbus; son, Steven (Mary) Narans of Fremont, Neb.; daughter, Paula (Gerald) Girard of South Sioux City, Neb.; brother, Loyd Russell of St. Joseph; sister, Betty Wood of Navato, Calif.; brother, Gary (Carol) Russell of Leavenworth, Kan.; brother, Donald "Buddy" Russell of St. Joseph; sister, Linda (John) Roberts of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Phyllis Narans of St. Joseph;10 grandchildren;19 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was past president of the Eagles Auxiliary in Columbus from 1969-1970 and was an avid bowler. She was the top bowler at Morys Haven and was selected as the Morys Sweetheart Queen of 2016. Maxine loved sewing, crocheting, knitting, and was a member of quilting and card clubs. She also worked as a hospital volunteer in Council Bluffs as well as the Columbus Hospital.

Funeral services: Feb. 2, 2017, 11:00 am, First United Methodist Church, Columbus, where family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Graveside services: Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, 11:00 am, Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri.
