Melvin D. Schenk

Melvin D. Schenk, 92, of Forest City, passed away February 12, at an Oregon health care center.

He was a lifetime resident of the area, and owned an auto mechanic and towing shop in Oregon.

He was a member of the Forest City United Methodist Church and had served in the United States Army during WWII.

On February 20, 1952 he married Marguerite "Margie" North. She preceded him on November 4, 2012. Melvin was also preceded by his parents, Herman "Tony" and Gertrude (Stadler) Schenk; brothers, Charlie and Harold; sister, Clara Gwyder; and nephew, Riley Schenk.

Survivors include his niece, Debbie Straubel, Trumbull, Connecticut; great niece, Monica Schenk, Kansas City, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilouise Schenk, Cameron, Missouri; friendly neighbors, Monty and Lisa Scroggins, and their daughters, Breannah and Camarah, all of Forest City.

Services were held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 am, with family visitation one hour prior to services at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Interment with military rites were held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Care Center Serenity Garden.
