Naomi B. Brodbeck

March 19, 1923 — December 10, 2016

Naomi Belle Brodbeck was born on March 19, 1923 near Oregon, Missouri. She was one of four children of George Edward and Berniece V. (Guthrie) Derr. She attended New Point grade school and graduated from Oregon High School in 1941. Naomi then attended Johnson Business School in St. Joseph.
She worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas during the war, and later as a school secretary in Ralston, Nebraska.
On June 9, 1946 she married George Brodbeck. They became parents of two children. The Brodbeck family lived in Oregon until George was recalled into the Marines, and was stationed in California. Afterwards they lived in St. Joseph until George was transferred to Omaha. George passed away in 1982, and Naomi moved back to Oregon in 1990.
Naomi passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Oregon Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Berniece (Guthrie) Derr; brothers, Edward and Bill Derr; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanore and James Nash; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and John Wales.
Survivors include her daughter, Emily (Steve) Garten of The Villages, Florida; son, Alan (Karen) Brodbeck of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Twyla Derr and Ann Etta Derr, both of Oregon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Brodbeck of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Beth (Kurt) Bohlmann, Rebecca Garten, Brent (Sara) Alder, and Steve (Tatje) Alder; five great grandchildren, Hunter, Savannah and Tori Alder, Noah Shabram, and Lane Bohlmann; and nieces and nephews.
Services: Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, 10:30 am, Oregon United Methodist Church. Family visitation: Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Adelpha Club, Oregon United Methodist Church, or Oregon Care Center Peace Garden .
