Naomi M. Rippey was born on March 19, 1933 to John and Audrey (Perry) Miller in Watson, Missouri. She attended Maitland, Missouri schools.
She married Alma J. Rowlett, and they became parents of three children. He preceded her in death. On October 6, 2006 she married Craig Rippey. He survives of their St. Joseph home.
Naomi helped with the family custom haying operation, and later worked at Schoonover’s Café in Mound City. Naomi sold Avon for many years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, St. Joseph Restoration Branch.
Naomi passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at her St. Joseph home at the age of 81.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, William; daughter, Diana Volz; brothers, Ronald and Monte Gilland and Maurice Miller; sisters, Donna Aue and Gloria Keaster; and grandson, Ryan Volz.
Survivors include her husband, Craig, of their St. Joseph home; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Janice Rowlett, Ottumwa, Iowa; stepsons, Jeffrey Rippey, Colorado, Tim (Amy) Rippey, Rincon, Georgia, Peter (Julie) Rippey, Marshall, Missouri, and Nicholas (Lisa) Rippey, Independence, Missouri, brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Cece Miller, Yerrington, Nevada; brother, Richard Gilland; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with family visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment: Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, Missouri. Memorials: Maitland Cemetery Association or Hands of Hope Hospice.
