Norma L. Foley

Norma L. Foley, 79, of Forest City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at her daughter’s home. Norma was born April 18, 1941, in Quezon City, Philippines.

She met and married Denzel “D.L.” Foley while he was serving in the US Navy. Norma met D.L. at a taco shop in Subic Bay, Philippines. On their first date they went fishing and had plenty of conversation because no fish was caught. A month later Norma helped D.L. with the set-up of a Christmas party and their love blossomed from there. They fell in love and got married in Honolulu, Hawaii where two families became one.

Norma loved spending time with family, including her husband, her six daughters and five grandchildren. Although Norma and D.L. lived in several cities including Honolulu, San Diego, Charleston, and Jacksonville, she settled in Forest City, Missouri with her husband in 1990.

Some of her interests and hobbies were crocheting doilies, and she loved gardening Asian vegetables. She wanted to do her own pickin’ while D.L. watered, tilled, and weeded. She really enjoyed catching and cleaning fish whether in the ponds of Missouri or shrimping and crabbing in South Carolina.

The most memorable times for her was traveling with her husband in third world countries, backpacking in rural areas, and meeting different people.

She had the most infectious smile, and she always had a desire to help someone in need. She had a very nurturing spirit.

When at home she found comfort sitting in the loveseat with her husband D.L. enjoying coffee and ice cream.

Survivors include her husband, D.L.; daughters, Tess Domby, Lydia Chambers, Lourdes Sharp, Sevilla Gil, Annie Taylor, and Myra Foley; and five grandchildren, Eric Domby, Jessica Maty, Hillary Kelley, Raquel Flory, and Courtney Sharp.

Services: Sunday, April 18, 2021, 2:00 p.m., Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, Mis souri. Interment: Monday, April 19, 2021, 1:30 pm., Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
