Pansy Alberta Shelton was born in the family home north of Forest City, Mo. on Oct. 17, 1926. She was the youngest of eight children of Albert and Mary L. (Randall) Gordon. Pansy graduated from Forest City High School in 1944.
On Oct. 20, 1948 she married Dewey Pendelton Shelton, Jr. in Benton County, Arkansas. Pansy worked as a bookkeeper for Gordon Brothers Quarries.
Pansy passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at her Forest City home at the age of 90.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dewey; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Sam Lininger; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Olive Gordon, Russell and Helen Gordon, Maurice and Mabel Gordon, Kenneth Gordon, Albert “Curly” and Letha Mae Gordon, and Connie and Viola Fern Gordon.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Darrington; granddaughter, Kelly Darrington; sisters-in-law, Janeta Foster of St. Joseph, Mo. and Kay Dierking of Estes Park, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pansy was a member of the Forest City United Methodist Church, a 60-year member of the Friendly Circle Club, and an Eastern Star member for over 50 years. She was an avid quilter, having made over 130 quilts since 1985. Pansy loved chocolate and Oreos.
