Patricia "Pat" Hughes

Patricia Louise “Pat” Hughes was born in Oregon, Missouri on January 13, 1933. She was one of two children of Earl Herbert and Leora Catherine “Lee” (Carlton) Cooksey.

Pat graduated from Oregon High School in 1950. Later that same year, on December 11, Pat married Hershel Hughes in St. Joseph, Missouri. They became parents of five children.

Pat worked for several years at the Pleasant Hill Nursing Home owned by her in-laws, Mitch and Celia Hughes.

Pat passed away on August 18, 2015 at the Oregon Care Center where she had been a patient for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Bonnie Cooksey; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Opal Hood, Lola and Bob Ward, Darlene Douglas, and Mavis and Harry Ourant; nephew, Robbie Ourant; and special friend (sister-she-never-had) Fern Thompson.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Hershel, of their Oregon home; their children and spouses, Glenn (Dee) of Oregon, Mike (Beth) of Oregon, Ronda (Steve) Jameson of McFall, Missouri, Jeff (Becky) of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Michelle Grimes of Oregon; 10 grandchildren, Zeke (Brittany) Hughes, Wende Hughes, Patty Hughes, Montana Roberts, Daisy Roberts, Amanda (Rusty) King, Mitchell Hunziger, Bailey Hughes, Briar Hughes, and Amy Grimes; three great grandchildren, Violet, Django, and Bentley; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, 10:30 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family visitation: Friday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment: Fillmore Cemetery. Memorials: Fillmore Cemetery.
