Patricia "Pat" R. Slusher

Patricia R. “Pat” Slusher was born in Ute, Iowa on November 5, 1940 to Dean E. and Ruth (Morgan) Densmore. Pat graduated from Guthrie Center High School.

Pat met Donald “Bud” Slusher while they were both students at Northwest Missouri State University. They were married on August 12, 1961, and made their home in Forest City and Oregon.

Pat was an elementary reading and math teacher at Savannah and Oregon.

In 1971 Pat and Bud moved to Oregon from Forest City. In 1981, they lost their daughter, Terri.

Pat was a member of the United Methodist Church in Forest City, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also the queen of Sassy Lassies, a local branch of the Red Hatters. Pat loved to travel. She enjoyed the Christmas season, and would have a yard full of Christmas decorations. Pat also wrote two books during her teaching career.

Pat passed away at her Oregon home on Thursday, October 15, 2020.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bud; their daughter, Terri; brothers, Russell and Elton Densmore; brother-in-law, Robert Hurley; and nieces and nephews, Adam Slusher, Jon Hurley, Jacob Wolfin, Robyn Hurley, and Mitzi Morgan.

Survivors include her son, Russell (Lisa) Slusher of Forest City, Missouri; brother, Jeff (Mary) Morgan of Guthrie Center, Iowa; sister, Karen Hurley of Mitchellville, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Jean Densmore of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Raynette Densmore of Anderson, California, Nora (Dean) Monroe of Craig, Missouri, and Martha (Ron) Staggs of Paris, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Monday, October 19, 2020, 11:00 am, Oregon United Methodist Church. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Family visitation: Sunday evening, 6:00 pm to 8 p.m., Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Social distancing and masks are encouraged, and will be provided, to those attending the visitation or service. Memorials: the Terri Slusher Scholarship Fund.
