Paul "P.M." Herbert

June 27, 1929 — December 27, 2012

Paul Max “P.M.” Herbert was born on June 27, 1929 in Oregon, Missouri, the son of Lee B. and Eva A. (Costelow) Herbert. P.M. graduated from New Point High School in 1947.

On December 17, 1949 he married Frances J. Huntsman, and they became parents of four children. P.M. farmed in Holt County.

P.M. passed away on Thurs., Dec. 27, 2012 at an Oregon health care facility at the age of 83.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, John Charles and Kenneth Herbert; sister, Reva Garrison; and grandson, Adam Slusher.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Herbert of Pittsburg, Kansas; daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and Chuck McComb of Maryville, Missouri, Karen and John Hinkle of Oregon, and Reva and Bill Slusher of New Point, Missouri; sister, Helen Hornecker of Bolivar, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Logan Herbert, Larisa Morris, Lisa Allen, Jennifer Dean, Jason McComb, Joshua McComb, Kayla Ripley, Brent Ripley, Darcie Hinkle, Kacie Wood, and Sarah Slusher; 16 great grandchildren, Paycee Slusher, Gracen and Raegan Ripley, Ty, Quinn, Tate and Asher McComb, Alex, Catherine, Gabriel and Graham Dean, Mason and Maddox Allen, Danielle VanSickle, and Isaiah and Olivia Morris; and nieces and nephews.

P.M. was a member of the Woodville Presbyterian Church and served on the New Point Cemetery Board. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the I.O.O.F. He was also active in the Holt County Republican Committee.
Services were held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Presbyterian Church in Oregon. Interment was at New Point Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the New Point Cemetery, the Woodville Presbyterian Church, or the Oregon Care Center Serenity Garden.
