Phyllis Gillis

Phyllis Gillis (nee Gravatt), of O’Fallon, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the age of 83.

Loving wife of the late John Robert "Bob" Gillis; beloved daughter of the late Vernon Ely and Anna Anderson Gravatt; devoted mother of Nancy (Martin) Provin and Craig Gillis; cherished grandmother of Madison Provin and Jack Provin.

She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenneth Gravatt and Carlton Gravatt.

Phyllis was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a longtime and active member of Dardenne Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. Phyllis was a wonderful cook, and in her free time she liked to read and work in the garden. She will be remembered for her great intelligence and her feisty spirit, as well as her kind and generous nature. Phyllis was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services were held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Dardenne Presbyterian Church. A private inurnment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mound City, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’ honor to Dardenne Presbyterian Church, 7400 Highway N, O'Fallon, MO 63368.
