Robert Dale Taylor was born on August 14, 1930 to William and Vida (Combs) Taylor.
He served in the United States Army with Company B 6th Tank Battalion from 1952 to 1954. Dale served part of that time overseas in Korea and Japan.
On December 23, 1955 he married Frances Marie Burgess at the Christian Church parsonage in Mound City, Missouri.
Dale worked for the Atchison County Highway Department for one year, then the Missouri State Highway Department for 42 years, retiring in 1990.
Dale enjoyed staying active, camping, fishing and having coffee with friends.
Dale passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at an Omaha, Nebraska hospital at the age of 85.
Dale is survived by his wife Frances, of their home; sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Mary Taylor, Rosenberg Tex., Robert and Peggy Taylor, Shenandoah Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert “B.W.” Kennell, Hamburg, Iowa; sister, Ethel Wallace, Tarkio, Mo.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jenny Taylor, California, Mo., Fred and Darlene Burgess, St. Joseph, Mo., Bob and Sheila Burgess, Cross Timbers, Mo., and Monty Burgess, Afton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, James, Charles, Carl and Eugene; sisters, Zella Taylor and Magdaline Greever; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Burgess.
Graveside services with military rites: Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, 1:30 pm, Greenhill Cemetery. Family will greet friends following the services at the Dale and Frances Taylor home. Memorials: Rock Port Christian Church or Greenhill Cemetery.
