Richard Terry Vest, 75, of Mound City, passed away April 6, 2015, at a St. Joseph hospital.
He was born on February 9, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, the only child of Richard W. (Dick) and Alta (Munkres) Vest.
Terry graduated from Mound City High School and Northwest Missouri College in Maryville, MO with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and went on to earn his Master’s Degree with a certificate in Administration.
T erry served nearly all of his career in education at Mound City High School. He was high school principal from 1967 to 1997.
He married Kay Jean Patterson and they became the parents of one son. He later married Donna Quinton Meyer and she survives their Mound City home.
Additional survivors include: son, Layne Vest, Springfield, MO; stepsons, David Meyer, St. Joseph, MO and Daniel Meyer, Lawrence, KS; granddaughter, Madison Meyer; cousins, Sue and Dean Travis, Scottsdale, AZ, Mary Francis Forney, Lamar, CO, and nieces and nephews.
Services: Friday, April 10, 2015, 2:00 pm, Mound City High School Gymnasium. Family visitation: Thursday, April 9, 2015, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, MO. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, MO.
