R. Layne Vest

Richard Layne Vest, 53, of Mound City, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Layne was born February 18, 1966 in Maryville, Missouri, the only child of R. Terry and Kay (Patterson) Vest.

Layne graduated from Mound City High School in 1984.

He had worked in the trucking industry, most recently as a load coordinator for Steelman Trucking.

In 1990 Layne married Marsha Meyer. They later divorced.

Layne was preceded in death by his father, Terry, in 2015.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kay and Fred Gilland, and stepmother, Donna Vest, all of Mound City; and many friends.

Layne enjoyed hunting, and was a member of the NRA. He also enjoyed muscle cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Layne never met a stranger.

Memorial services: Saturday, March 16, 2019, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family visitation: One hour prior to services.  Private family inurnment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials: The Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
