Ralph E. Travis

Ralph E. Travis, 74, of Mound City, passed away Nov. 24, 2013 at a St. Joseph hospital.

He was born in Mound City on Oct. 31, 1939, and graduated from Mound City High School in 1958.

Ralph served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired truck driver.

In 1967 he married Rosemary Holmes. They became parents of two sons, and later divorced.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Denzil “Pete” and Dorothy (Littler) Travis; sister, Rosie Marrs; and nephew, Eric McIntyre.

Survivors include his sons, Kyle (Dana) Travis of Overland Park, Kan., and Conor J. (Emily) Travis of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Sally (Owen) McIntyre of Caladonia, Ohio, Janice (Sonny) McCormack of Mound City, Martha (Ron) Idecker of Mound City, and Linda (Sam) Creed of Fairfax, Mo.; brother, Jerry Dean Travis of Oregon, Mo.; brother-in-law, Russell Marrs of Forest City, Mo.; five grandchildren; 10 nephews and three nieces.

Services were held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family greeted friends one hour prior to services. Inurnment was held at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
