Robert Francis Malick was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 10, 1927. He was one of six children of Harold and Nell Malick.
He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1945, serving as a photographer for the 91 st Photo Reconnaissance Squadron.
He married Bettie Jean (Flynn) Malick on March 21, 1949, and they lived in Red Oak, Iowa. Bob owned and operated Malick Motors, had the Studebaker dealership, and later worked as a car salesman for Red Oak Chrysler in Red Oak. After years of camping and boating at Big Lake, Missouri, Bob and Bettie retired there in 1989.
In May of 2014 he moved to Table Rock Lake to live with his daughter, Becky, and favorite son-in-law, Randy Johns. Bob passed away on Sat., Dec. 20, 2014, at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie; his parents, Harold and Nell Malick; three brothers, Bill, Jim, and Kenny; and a sister, Mary Jane Delehant.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Randy Johns of Kimberling City, Missouri; sister, Kay Talbott of Belton, Missouri; sister-in-laws, Barb Malick and
Bev Malick; three grandchildren and spouses, Brooklyn and Jeff Bauerle, Misty and Jonah Staerkel, and Trenton and Andrea Johns, all of Kansas City; five great grandchildren, Kadynce, Kolton, Jacoby, Addison and Annabelle; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and interment with military honors were held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at 11:00 am at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. Family visitation was held afterwards from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon, Missouri. Memorials may be directed to the Big Lake Improvement Association.
