Ronald L. "Roy" Light

August 20, 1932 — August 13, 2017

Ronald Leroy “Roy” Light was born August 20, 1932 in Sidney, Iowa, the son of William and Mildred (Sumner) Light. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1950.
Roy served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He lived most of his life Iowa and Missouri.
Roy was a man of many talents and trades throughout his lifetime. He worked as a farm manager, a road grader operator, and a foreman for Missouri Beef Packers. He served as a Hamburg, Iowa city administrator.
Roy passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at a Rock Port, Missouri care center at the age of 84.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie Jo; sons, Rodney and Craig Light; daughter, Linda Light; sister, Ginger Tysor; half brothers, Edmond and Jack Light;  and half sisters, Mae Stevens and Eva Forrester.
Survivors include his sons, Steven Light of St. James, Missouri, Roger (Rose) Light of St. James, Nicholas Light of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bill (Brian) Light of Salem, Washington; stepson, Wayne (Gayle) Allee of Rock Port; honorary son, Bruce (Valerie)  Duncan of Rock Port; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Stephens of Columbia, Missouri, Julie (Darren) James of Columbia, Laura Light of Columbia, and Ashley Upton of Cuba, Missouri; stepdaughters, Karen (Dan) Tietjen of Platte City, Missouri and Jeanette Henderson of Hamburg, Iowa; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grand-children.
Roy loved horses, western books and movies.

Memorial services with full military rites will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 1:30 pm at the Mount Olive Church in Hamburg, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
