Roy F. Burtnett

Roy Frank Burtnett was born on March 30, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri to William L. and Addie A. (Wood) Burtnett.

Roy graduated from South Holt High School. On April 20, 1974 he married Karen D. Carothers in Denver, Colorado.

Roy worked as a deputy sheriff in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado and in Akron, Colorado. He also worked as a truck driver. Roy and Karen moved to Oregon in 1988.

Roy passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at a Lincoln, Nebraska hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Mercedes Burtnett.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Karen, of their Oregon home; children, Christina (Donald) Bacon, Frank Degener, Everett (Carolyn) Burtnett, and Kimberly (Kinon Hill) Burtnett; grandchildren, Brittany (B.J.) Hauver, Michael Warner, Ashley (Wally) Stufflebean, Cortney (Jacob) Bonea, Ryan Burtnett, Samantha Warner, Trimye Hill, and Jaydin Burtnett; and brother, Jerry (Nora) Burtnett of Faucett, Missouri.

Roy was a member of the Forest City Lions Club and the Missouri Valley Amateur Radio Club of St. Joseph. He enjoyed boating and fishing.

Services: Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 11:00 am, First Christian Church, Oregon, Missouri. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Memorials: Roy Burtnett Memorial Fund.
