Shirley O’Barsky was born in Watson, Mo. on Jan. 11, 1940, and graduated from Watson High School. She served in the Woman’s Army Corps from 1959 until 1961.
On Dec. 2, 1960 she married Charles E. O’Barsky. He preceded her in death.
Shirley passed away Jan. 21, 2015 at her Hamburg, Iowa home at the age of 75.
She was also preceded by her parents, Leland D. and Leola M. (Maness) Holmes, and by an infant son, Leland Joseph.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Charles E. and Julie O’Barsky, Jr., of Hamburg, Denny and Barbara O’Barsky of Griffin, Georgia, Patty and Mike Haun of Keller, Texas, and Susan and Chris Johnson of Wake Forest, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Holly Holmes of Watson; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Tom Gibson of Watson; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Services: Sat., Jan. 24, 2015, 2:00 pm, Watson Baptist Church. Family will greet friends at the church from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment with military rites: High Creek Cemetery. Memorials: Firefighters for Christ.
