Shirley M. Richey

Shirley Marie (Blanton) Richey was born in Bendena, Kansas on February 17, 1942. She was one of eight children of Jesse James and Gladys Lenora (Simpson) Blanton. She attended school in Kansas.

On September 12, 1960 she married Lynn Allyn Richey. They became parents of three daughters.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and working the farm. She also enjoyed square dancing, camping, long rides in the country, mushroom hunting and any time spent with her grandbabies. Shirley enjoyed target practicing and was a dead-eye shooting her guns.

Shirley passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at a Kansas City area hospital at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Lynn, of their Forest City home; daughters, Deborah Demers, Sandra (Jimmy) Neill, and Carolyn (John) Willard; nine grandchildren; 13 great grand-children; 11 step grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; brothers, Wendell, Bill, Sam, Howard, Jack, Frank and George Blanton; sister, Tami Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at 3:30 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon.
