Thelma D. McKenzie was born in Holt County, Missouri on May 5, 1932. She was the youngest of seven children of Samuel L. and Mina M. (Patton) Gelvin.
On April 8, 1949 Thelma married Charles McKenzie in Red Oak, Iowa, and they became parents of six children. The McKenzie family lived in Mound City and Fairfax.
Charles passed away in 2012. Thelma passed away on January 8, 2017 at a Rock Port, Missouri care center at the age of 84.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Larry McKenzie, Joan McKenzie and Rhonda Diggs; brothers, Raymond, Richard and Glenn Gelvin; and sisters, Dorothy Lease, Frances Stroud and Betty Gillenwater.
Thelma is survived by her daughters, Staci Paige Coleman of Fairfax, Missouri, Kana (Randy) Mulnix of Bethany, Missouri and Anita Kay of Osage Beach, Missouri; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Thurs., Jan. 12, 2017, 2:00 pm, River of Hope Fellowship Church, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services, at the church. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Memorials: River of Hope Fellowship Church.
