Tom Gibson, 77, of Watson, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
Tom was born February 19, 1942 in Chatom, Alabama to Henry and Hattie (Carpenter) Gibson. He attended school in Chatom and finished schooling in the U.S. Army, in which he served for five years (1960-1965).
On September 12, 1962 Tom married Kay Holmes. Tom worked at Missouri Beef Packers and as a carpenter foreman for 25 years.
Tom was actively involved in the community through donations of fish for local benefits for those in need. Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Rufus, Houston, William, John Henry, Abe, Martin, Donald, and Fred; and sisters, Mamie, Lucille, Winnie Mae, Minnie, and Barbara.
Survivors include his sister, Alice (Jim) Singleton; and his wife, Kay, and their three children, Tammy Oakes (Steve Jones), Thomas Jr. (Tammy) Gibson, and Anna Beth (John) Wennihan; sister-in-law, Malinda Gibson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Holly Holmes; 14 grandchildren, Mandy (Kevin) Pitzen, Kayti (Josh) Hayes, Chris (Candace) Oakes, Jacob (Julie) Gibson, Sam (Drew) Tanner, Seth Sheldon (Jennifer Alvarez), Cody (Shelbie) Gibson, Matt (Angel) Gibson, Kori (Chase) Chamberlain, Tasha Gibson, Makayla Oakes (Bob Reafling), Tabitha Gibson, Mason McMahon, and Carter Wennihan; 22 great grandchildren with one on the way, Dylan and Chloe Pitzen, Payten, Brylea and Ryne Shrader, Everly and Chance Hayes, Tayton Oakes, Caydence, Damien and Keith Oakes, Malayna, Alex and Hunter Gibson, Raiden and Myka Tanner, Ryker and Leland Gibson, Cooper and Lucas Gibson, Dash Chamberlain, and Gabe Gronniger; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services: Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, 10:30 am, Atchison County Memorial Building, Rock Port. Family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 am. Interment at High Creek Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Ralph Greer American Legion Post 49. Memorials: Watson Fire Department.
