Velma Rose Dudeck was born in Marion County, Kansas on April 24, 1928. She was one of two children of Arthur L. and Sarah (Miller) Popp.
Velma’s father passed away when she was three. Her mother later married Gottlieb Arbeiter, and they moved to York, Nebraska where Velma graduated from York High School.
On March 30, 1952 Velma married Paul E. Dudeck. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Velma was a typical farmwife of that generation, busy with helping on the farm, gardening, canning, and raising many chickens and their four children. She was a member of the Better Homes and Garden Club.
After Paul’s death, Velma continued to live on the farm until this past May. She passed away on July 22, 2025 at the Oregon Cere Center.
Velma was also preceded in death by her parents; infant triplets; son, George; grandson, Michael Dudeck; and her brother, Lowell Popp.
Survivors include her children, David (Anne) Dudeck, Dan Dudeck, and Ruth (Jayson) Johnson; grandchildren, Rob (Beth) Dudeck, Matthew (Elizabeth) Dudeck, Chris (Laura) Daniel, Ashli (Jim) Wiederholt, David (Sarah) Dudeck, Joshua (Evangela) Dudeck, Jessica (John) Pavlisin, Brooke (Jess) Berkey, Brittany (Brandon) Walker, and Brett (Lexi) Johnson; great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Jackson, and Kenton Dudeck; Mason, George, John, and Jacob Dudeck; Anna and Hank Daniel; Grayson, Elli, and William Wiederholt; Noah, Hadley, and Eliana Dudeck; Georgia Rose and Amelia Dudeck; George, Charles, Adelaide and Ruby Rose Pavlisin; William and Jack Burkey; and Eva Mae, Colin, and Meredith Rose Walker.
Funeral services: Friday, July 25, 2025, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Interment: Highland Cemetery. Memorials: Highland Cemetery.
