Vernon Frederick Geib, 99, of Mound City, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri
Vernon was born on September 29, 1920 west of Craig, Missouri to Frederick William and Laura Ida Cathleen (Asendorf) Geib. Vernon attended school near Craig.
Vernon served in the US Marine Corps during WW II. On July 24, 1942 he was united in marriage to Velva Iona Moore. After their marriage they farmed southwest of Craig for over 40 years before retiring and moving to Mound City in 1983.
Vernon was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 164 of Craig and a member of the Craig Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of over 71 years, Velva Iona; sisters, Pauline Wiener and Violet Rhoades; and grandson, Anthony Geib.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Lee (Elberta) Geib of Cameron, Larry Gene (Deborah) Geib of Mound City, and Gary Dean (Ginny) Geib of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughter, Beverly Ann (Larry) Casey of Blue Springs; brother, William Eugene (Nancy) Geib of Independence, Mo.; grandchildren, Gregory Geib, Carrie Wilson, Kyle Geib, Camille Lucito, Chris, Jeromy, and Shawn Geib, Lori Strong, and Kevin Casey; step grandchildren, Scott Wyss and Julie Barber; great grandchildren, Willis and Caden Wilson, Kristin Grooms, Jenna and Kira Geib, Dylan Strong, Cole, Jake, Luke, and Lane Lucito, Katelynn, Kendra and Kennadi Geib, Logan and Lawren Casey, and Landon Geib; step great grandchildren, Sara and Emily Wyss, Ryan, Andrew, and Mathew Barber; great-great granddaughter, Lila Marie; and nieces and nephews.
