Wayne E. Voltmer was born December 25, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Earl W.A. and Margaret M. (Blohm) Voltmer.
Wayne graduated from Craig High School in 1964. On April 12, 1970 he married Beverly R. Todd.
Wayne farmed, was a former Holt County commissioner, and served in a variety of community and civic organizations. He also served in the Army National Guard for several years. Wayne was an active member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Craig, and the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mound City.
Wayne passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at a St. Joseph hospital at the age of 65.
Preceding him in death was his father, and a brother, Dale Voltmer.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Voltmer, of Mound City; his wife of 42 years, Beverly; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Voltmer of Hopkins, Missouri, Andrew “Bear” and Amy Voltmer of Mound City, and Eric and Leslie Boyer of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; daughter, Mindi Gail Voltmer of Craig; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrel and Marla Voltmer of Craig, Neal and Karen Voltmer of Bigelow, Missouri; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and David Fritz of Savannah, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mound City. Interment with military rites was held at the Craig I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
