William E. "Bill" Harrington

William E. “Bill” Harrington, 84, of Tarkio, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at the Community Hospital in Fairfax.

Bill was born in Cowetta, Okla. on May 26, 1929. He graduated from Rock Port High School, and then served overseas in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. On June 30, 1950 Bill married Delores Smith in Rock Port, and they became parents of two children. Bill farmed in Atchison County all his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Bob and Lula (Smith) Harrington. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores, of their Tarkio home; daughters Laurie Rockhill, Kansas City, Mo. and Merri Lea Hubbard, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; granddaughter, Cristin (Dustin) Walters, Independence, Mo.; nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Services were held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. Family greeted friends at the church from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Interment with military rites was held at Grange Hall Cemetery in Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the Grange Hall Cemetery Association or Hearts United for Animals shelter in Auburn, Nebraska.
