William Eugene “Bill” Spreckelmeyer was born in Forbes, Missouri on February 24, 1925, and passed away at his home in Oregon, Missouri on June 2, 2013.
He was the son of Henry and Mary (Prussman) Spreckelmeyer who, with his brother Donald, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister, Pauline Kessler, a nephew, Roy Kessler, a niece, Connie Vedomske, and a number of cousins from his mother’s family.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Holt County, where he was engaged in farming and the home furnishing and funeral businesses.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and in 1945 he married Eleanor Fitzgerald. They were the parents of, and are survived by, a son, Kent (Antha) Spreckelmeyer, and a daughter, Karol Nan (Jack) Palmer.
Eleanor passed away in 1979, and in 1981 he married Lois Jean “Jeanne” Robinson Hunziger, who survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his son, Rex Hunziger, and is survived by his daughter Teri (Tim) Bugg and son Ray Lee (Debbie) Hunziger.
His greatest source of joy in life came from his grand and great grandchildren: Kyle (Jenna) Palmer, Erin Bell, Tyson (Staci) Helsel, Sam (Jessica), Molly, Jesse, and Dillon Hunziger, Leah Spreckelmeyer, Elexis Thom, Jackson and Brooklyn Bell, Braxton and Bryson Helsel, and Peyton Hunziger.
A celebration of Bill’s life was held at the Oregon United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 am. Family greeted friends one hour prior to services, at the church. Inurnment followed the service at the Oregon Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Heartland Hands of Hope Hospice Care, the Oregon Christian Chuirch, or the United Methodist Church.
