William D. "Bill" Pierson was born on Dec. 12, 1923 in Mound City, Mo., to Frederick W. and Pearl E. (Swaim) Pierson. Bill graduated from Mound City High School in 1941 and then attended Hillyard Technical.
Bill served overseas in the U.S. Army during WW II, from 1943 to 1946. While serving in the military he met Dora McDonough, and they were married on
Oct. 11, 1944 in Moreton, England. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diann Pierson; an infant brother; brothers, Columbus Franklin Pierson and Berl Pierson; and sisters, Lenora Boyd, Daisy Hunsaker, Goldie Reynolds, Martha Hooley, Madeline Doan, and Avis Genevieve Pierson.
Survivors include his sons, Fred Pierson of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Jim and his wife Lora Pierson of Oregon; sister, Imogene Hooley of Ft. Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services: Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Family visitation: Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment: Benton Cemetery. Memorials: Benton Cemetery Association.
