Wilma F. Sommer was born on January 4, 1923 in Oregon, Missouri. She was one of three daughters born to Guy and Maude (Norris) Noland.
Wilma graduated from Oregon High School in 1941.
On May 17, 1941 she married Ralph Sommer. They became parents of one son. Ralph preceded her in death in 1983. She then married Ivan Kurtz, and they later divorced, but remained close friends.
Wilma passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Oregon Care Center at the age of 90.
In addition to her first husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Roberta Nielsen and Rose Bent.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Charla Sommer of Oregon; two grandchildren, Jacqueline (Sommer) Leonard and husband, Mitch, and Justin Sommer and his wife, Melea; three great grandchildren, Rho, Cash, and Race Leonard; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Oregon. Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Oregon Care Center.
